Our rooms should be the only place where we are feeling most comfortable. It should be a sanctuary in which we can feel safe. It should be a place where we can rest and feel refreshed after a long day at work. To serve these functions, many people choose to decorate their rooms according to their likes. One of the most popular decorations nowadays is the spa like rooms and also the tropical decorated rooms. After all, tropical and spa represent nothing but relaxing thoughts and holidays. If you choose the tropical paradise look for your rooms, then you should also complete the look with a pineapple lamp.
There are pineapple lamps that can cost you a fortune in the markets. Some are made of porcelain and some others are made of stainless steel. But if you do not have the budget to purchase those lamps, you can actually create a do it yourself pineapple lamp. This project is so exciting as it poses certain challenges but will eventually be a great addition to your tropical decorated rooms.
In order to create your own pineapple lamp, you will need:
A small lamp
A wide bottle such as a squash bottle
12 dozens of plastic spoons
Yellow paint
Green Card
Glue
Xacto Knife
Directions:
1. You will need to use a lamp shade. If you do not have any extras, then you may need to get one. Remember that you need to keep the lamp unplugged for as long as the project.
2. By using your xacto knife, cut off the bottom part of the bottle and then the spout so that you will have to open sides.
3. If you are using the squash bottle, then you will need some shortening. Afterwards, you can also cut a few notches out from the squash bottle so that it can fit perfectly to the lamp frame. The bottle can also then act as a shade.
4. Then paint all your spoons and make sure that everything looks nice. Next is to apply the spoons to the base by using the glue so that they will stick.
5. After the first layers of spoons are finished, then you can start with a second layer. Keep on repeating this step until you reach the top layer.
6. Take your green card and make spiny star shape. Cut a hole right in the middle of the paper. This act is to ensure that the paper will not over heat from the lamp’s heat.
7. Use the glue to stick the stars on the top of the spoons and make the spines but cutting out the spear shapes.
8. To make it look nicer, you can create different sizes and cuts of the spines. Bend them a little and you will have your pineapple lamp look.
