Beginner gardeners must have the basic knowledge of garden vegetables, otherwise they will not be successful. There are lots of things to consider before starting with the garden vegetable projects. Planning comes first because the gardener has to know the perfect site selection, how to plot the site, what seeds to grow and how to grow them.
Although at first gardening does not seem so complicated, but on the other hand it can be sometimes when one does not know how to solve a problem. When it is the learning time, it is always better to start from a small garden. After all, it is always better to have a small garden that are healthy then having a huge garden but cannot handle the problems in the gardens.
Because gardening seems so easy, many people make the common beginner mistake that is to plant too many items at once. When a new gardener plants for himself, always choose the vegetables that he thinks he can consume and the ones that are of his favorite. Keep it simple for the first few tries until the gardener has already mastered some greater knowledge.
Some tips can be obtained from articles or expert gardeners, however some things must be learnt from experiences. When a person reads about a tomato hornworm, he is already prepared to come across worms that are much bigger in size compared to other worms. But when he finally sees one, there will be a great chance that he would be surprised at the size and only experience will help him to calmly remove these pests.
If a gardener chooses vegetables, then he must realize that vegetables need sun. Not only need, they love sun. They need to be exposed to sun for at least 6 hours a day, but they will only thrive if they have it for 8 hours a day. If the garden site cannot provide these basic needs, then a gardener must redo the plans again. Another important thing to know is the type of the soil.
Vegetables need rich soils to thrive and to get the rich soils, the gardener must treat the soil before planting the seeds. Enrich them with compost and make sure that it can have well drained soil. Vegetables need water, but they will die when overwatered. Then of course, the gardener must master the placement of the plants and which to put near which or away from each or to plant them effectively.
