Maybe you have heard of Monsanto because they have been covered a lot lately, including the news that they have in the NationofChange.com. However, you may not know that there are 10 huge seed companies that are controlling the seed business for the entire world. It is not an extravagant notion because they do have seeds all over the world and they have the seeds that not many other companies have. Needless to say that they control the seed supply because they have the quality as well as the variety.
Well, if the top 10 control the world, the top 3 control almost 50 percent of all those seeds and the rest was controlled by the others. These companies get huge income of trillions of dollars just from their seed patents, pesticides, herbicide and fertilizer sales. Without them, the whole world may not be getting enough supplies of seeds. Here are the big three companies:
Mosanto
Mosanto is the biggest seeds company in the whole world. They profited almost 12 billion every year from their business. They control about 27 percent of the total seed of the world, especially the mono crop and the modern agricultural farming. Their statistic is so amazing that in a glimpse, it may seem impossible.

Because of their large sum of income, they are able to spend a lot just for lobbying. As much as 6 billion dollar was spent on lobbying back in the 2007, so you can imagine just how much thay would be willing to spend today in order to be able to stay on the top of the list. As they have so much money to throw away at directions they think necessary, they even spend money in order to convince the government and lawmakers not their advantage.
Dupont (Pioneer)
Dupont is the American based company and they were able to make 4 billion every year on seed. The number is not as amazing as the Mosanto, but they have certain place int he hearts of farmers and gardeners. They once joined hand with the Big Ten, Cargill and Mosanto in order to defeat the GMO labeling.
Sygenta
Sygenta is based in Switzerland. Although it is sitting on number three, but even Mosanto has to admit that Sygenta is one of Mosanto’s overseas competitor. The Sygental holds 9 percent of the seed market and seems like its going to be expanding its market share in the years to come.
