Tomato Bisque can be found in so many restaurants as its taste is so delicious that many people simply could not stand to stay away from it. After trying the dish in many restuarants, you may start to wonder if this is a dish that can be produced at home. Would not it be nice to be able to serve this dish at home for all the members of the family to enjoy? You would be pleasently surprised to know that the tomato bisque recipe is not difficult to make and even any homecooks can do it.
Here are the list of ingredients that you woul need in order to be able to serve 6 to 8 people:
4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
1 diced onion
2 slices of minced procuitto, bacon or ham
4 cloves of garlic
5 tablespoons of whole wheat flour
5 cups of chicken stock
One large can (28 ounce) of peeled tomatoes with juice or if you prefer fresh tomatoes, then use 5 – 6 medium sized ripe and fresh tomatoes which have been boiled for a minute and have their skins peeled off. No matter which one you choose, the tomatoes need to be roughly chopped before cooked.
3 sprigs of parsley
3 sprigs of fresh thyme
1 bay leaf
1 cup of heavy cream, however you can feel free to reduce the cream.
1 tablespoon of salt
Ground black pepper to taste
Preparation:
1. Over medium heat, heat the butter first by using a large soup pot. Add the onion and leave it on the heat for about 5 minutes or until you can see that it starts to be soft.
2. Next is to add the four and stir the pot vigorously for about 3 minutes
3. Pour the chicken stock and tomatoes. Wait until they boil but whisk it constantly.
4. Place the herbs on low heat for another 30 minutes
5. Remove the pot from the stove and the blend everything by using a blender or a food processor. When it smooth, stop the blender. Another option is also use a handheld immersion blender. This is a great device for making different soups.
6. Stir in the heavy cream on the amount that is desired and add the final seasoning of salt and pepper.
7. Enjoy it while it is warm!
