These are questions that can be so difficult for you to answer as you only see the hydroponic label in the supermarkets. Do you want to buy those more expensive items only because they are labeled with hydroponic on the stack of the other crops that are traditionally grown? Well, if we do not know the advantages, then why bother spend more? We first need to understand the effects that the hydroponic grow can give before including them in our diet.
Tomatoes are not the only fruit slash vegetable that are grown hydroponically. In fact, there are so many other types of vegetables grown hydroponically nowadays. What exactly is it? Well, the shortest description to describe about the hydroponic system would be the plants that are grown suspended to a liquid solution. The liquid itself contains minerals needed by the plants in order to thrive and row healthily.
The hydroponic farms are usually indoor, or inside the greenhouses although they can also be grown outside. All the water in the production process would be recycled through the hydroponic system. As the hydroponically grown vegetables are most likely to be in the enclosure of greenhouses, they are not too exposed to bacteria and viruses outside. When they are not exposed to these harmful things, they would be using fewer pesticides which can be dangerous for human health. After all, although pesticides may help the plants, but the fact remains that they are chemicals. When stacked up inside of the human bodies, the chemical pesticides would then be dangerous. Among the dangers or illnesses caused by the chemical pesticides is cancer.
When we talk about the nutrients in the vegetables of the hydroponically grown vegetables, the level is actually similar to the ones traditionally produced. This is the same case as the organically gorwn vegetables. What makes them difference is the level of chemicals used. As for the difference between the organically grown vegetables and the hydroponically grown ones, the hydroponic system is more environmental friendly as they recycle the water being used. On the other hand, the organically grown vegetables are less likely to use the chemical pesticides compared to the hydroponically grown plants. In term of product prices, both the organically and hydroponically grown ones are more expensive than the traditionally grown ones. So which one do you choose?
