The succulent terrarium has become an amazing home decoration. It makes the house look natural and modern at the same time. It is natural because like other plants, it can also grow but it is so easy to maintain. Moreover, it is also so easy to make that even as a beginner, you can do it yourselves. But, this does not mean that you do not need the tips on what to avoid. Here are some of the things to avoid:
- Too much light.
If they receive too much light, then they will die because they are roasted inside the glass. The glass will serve as a magnifying glass when exposed to too much light and eventually the plants inside will be burnt by the uncontrollable raise of temperature inside the jar. You may not realize but the temperature inside the glass terrarium would resemble the temperature of the sauna. Even those succulent plants who are used to living in the desert cannot handle this heat. Therefore, you should try to keep the terrarium away from direct sun even though they need the sun light.
- Too little light.
Like too much light, too little light will also cause a problem for the succulent terrarium. All plants need the sun light in order to survive, however different plants will require different amount of sunlight. Even though you can find those plants that can survive with low lights, but you will not find any that will survive without sunlight at all. They need the sun for the photosynthesis process. So place the terrarium near the window so that they will receive sun light.
- Too close to radiators.
The radiators produced so much heat that it has the ability to kill the plants quickly. It is the same as you sitting inside a fast moving car in the middle of a hot and sunny summer with the windows close and air conditioner off. What you feel is similar to what these succulent would feel when placed near the heat of the radiators.
- Letting the plants get scraggly
When you see that there is a leggy, you will need to prune the terrarium plants. Keep the plants small by pruning. You would also need to prune the roots.
- Leaving dying plants
If you see that a plant is not looking healthy in the terrarium, you will need to get rid of it as soon as possible or instead of moving the whole plants, you can just remove the dying leaves. Not only that this will look ugly, but it may also harm the whole terrarium. Use the small shovel to dig out the plant.
