In 1994, Don and Terri Caldwell decided to open the Cactus Theater. The theater is located in Luhbock, Texas. Don and Terri Calwell love performances and they open the theater in order to be able to provide the adequate venue so the musicians and other entertainers around the area of West Texas can come and perform. This is how they try to support the local community, especially the entertainment community.
And then, Terri Caldwell decided that she wanted to do more by founding the Terri Caldwell Music. The program provides coaching and mentorship in order to encourage the students to reach their full potential in term of vocal ability. She sees that when the students are performing well, they gain more self esteem as well as greater love for the art of singing. Among the few selected students are the Cactus Cuties.

In the year 2001, Terry Caldwell was joined by her child in the teaching process. By which time, she had begun a group of youth performance in the name of The Cactus Kids. Both the mother and child mentor the group before they decided to choose the youngest ones among the kids and then create a smaller group to be called The Cactus Cuties. So it was during the 2001 that The Cactus Cuties was originally begun. The original members of The Cactus Cuties are seven girls of the age four to seven years old. However, as they have grown, the members of the original groups have grown separate ways and they have been replaced with younger children.
Over time, the Cactus Cuties have performed in many public as well as private events in the surrounding area, thus they have gained the exposure that they need in order to be known and to grow. After a long search, finally the Cactus Cuties is no more than 4 girls at the age of 11 to 16. They are the existing members of the Cactus Cuties.
As their exposure grows, in the beginning of 2008, the Cactus Cuties were asked to perform the National Anthem for various occasions, but the first one would be for the opening of Texas Tech Lady Raiders vs Texas. The basketball match was on January 20th, 2008. As the audiences loved the girls’ performance, there are even more and more requests for the girls to perform such as during the NBA playoff match between the NBA San Antonio Spurs vs New Orleans Hornets.
