Bob the Tomato is the one of the main character in the VeggieTales along with his best friend, Larry the Cucumber. Bob has a round and red body with green stem on the top of his head. His coat is both shiny and rubbery. He has large eyes and there are black circles around the eyes. In short, he has the typical look of a tomato.
Bob appears in most of the episodes, while Larry is in each episode. That is why Bob is considered to be the co host of Larry. The VeggieTales is basically teaching Bible to the children. It wants to introduce the content of the Bible in a fun way. That is why they need a character like Bob who can be considered as the straight man when it come to his relationship with Larry. Bob is the one trying to maintain control, even though sometimes the situation is quite chaotic. He is the character that has quite a resemblance to Kermit from the popular Muppet Show. He is the source of calm in the chaos and he is also the one that is most mature in the story.
Larry and Bob were in so many adventures that lead them into stories that end up with a lesson from the Bible. The VeggieTales is successful and therefore they have been transformed into a big screen movie entitled Jonah, A VeggieTales Movie in which Bob had to drive the people he love the most, Percy Pea, Annie, Laura Carrot and Junior Asparagus to the Twippe concert with pride. But of course the drive did not go as planned. After an over protective mom shout the tires of the vehicle that was being used. Then down they go speeding down the hill, just missing the river by inches.
Even though Bob not be the main star of the VeggieTales, but he surely has a special place in the hearts of the people who love the show that he can be seen playing in so many other movies such as the Duke and the Great Pie War, The Ballad of Little Joe as well as the Jonah Sing Along show. At the show, he performed with Larry to coach the Archibald Asparagus who was terrified and did not want to leave the dressing room. While in the Ballad of Little Joe, he played Sherriff Bob and later on, he was in another movie called the Asparagus of LaMancha and he was playing the same sheriff role.
